Manmadhudu 2 Movie Review
Sambasiva Rao / Sam (Akkineni Nagarjuna) is a Casanova who has commitment issues and hence confines his relationships to no more than one night stands. Since he is too old to be a bachelor, his family gives him an ultimatum that he has to get married within three months. So Sam comes up with a plan to take a girl to his family and once he manages to get ditched by her right on the wedding day, he can have his family back him up because of the heart break he experiences. But the plot thickens when things go out of hands and take unintended directions, which make the plot of the movie.Review:
Nagarjuna justifies to the title of Manmadhudu with his looks. Even at the age of 60, he maintains his charm and his screen presence pays well off for the fans. Avanthika (Rakul Preet Singh) too is a show stealer as she impresses the audience not only with her ultra glamorous looks but also with the performance she delivers for the role she gets. A lot is expected from the director, Rahul Ravindran as he gave his best in his debut movie, Chi La Sow. So when dealt so well on an original script, he could have done a lot of great work on a classic movie such as Manmadhudu. But the very idea of touching a classic movie like Manmadhudu turned out to be a blunder. The movie Manmadhudu is now being considered as a cult movie. The movie is an out and out entertainer at the same time the movie has a soul that plays the emotions of the protagonist in perfect way that even with all the flaws and his misogynistic touch, Abhiram is a likable character. But Sam no matter how much of a romantic hero he tries to be turns out superficial and mediocre at times. The story oscillates between an adult comedy and a romantic comedy, which is a major drawback. No matter how many promises Nagarjuna made in the promotions of the movie that the bold content is dealt sensibly, the audience feels cringed at times because of the lenience the movie takes in playing adult jokes in front of a family audience. The first half feels a lot breezier, thanks to the locations of Portugal and the cinematography of Sukumar. The music of Chaithan Bharadwaj feels live and adds to the tone of the movie. But the writing declines graphically so bad that the ending becomes so melodramatic. Many moments that could have been impactful failed to be so. Samantha and Keerthi Suresh cameos are the correct examples for that. The main asset of the movie is Vennela Kishore. He proved one more time that he is more of an actor than just a mere comedian. He has his own separate style in comedy that his screen presence, body language and witty one liners save majority of the movie.Verdict:
Nagarjuna made Greekuveerudu years ahead which has almost the similar story line as of Manmadhudu 2. Greekuveerudu is a flop and so might Manmadhudu 2 turn out. It would have been a great idea to not title the movie on Manmadhudu so that the movie might not have set a lot of expectations which the movie obviously failed to reach.
